Johnson Apartments, named for Marion A. Johnson, was erected in 1966. Johnson was born in 1901 at Oskaloosa, Iowa; died Nov. 9, 1964, at Washington, D.C.; B.S. (William Penn Collegem 1924), M.S., Ph.D. (University of Chicago, 1926,1928); Acting Assistant Professor of Botany, Indiana State Teachers College, 1928-29; joined Rutgers Faculty as Assistant Professor of Botany in 1929; Became chairman of the Botany Department in 1943; Dean of the Graduate School, 1954-64; and was one of the original founders of the Bureau of Biological Research.
